Show "N" Tell November 2010

There were not enough Officers present to hold a meeting but we had Show "N" Tell.

Didier Watson our local "Jet Guru" brought his F-5 with Custom with Air Force colors.  It uses a 4 or 5 cell battery and has a 70mm fan.

These jets really go and you can fly them in many places that will not allow turbines.

Keith Paskewitz lightened Dan Cramer's 370 Mah Turnigy 25C batteries.  It is hoped that they will have an extended life when used in foam planes and IFO's.

The original 370 Mah battery weighed 24.9 grams.

After lightening weighed:

                                                      Batt. #1    21.4 grams

                                                      Batt. #2    20.8 grams

                                                      Batt. #3    21.2 grams

                                                      Batt. #4    21.1 grams.

                                          Average weight – 21.15 grams

Keith's Rhino 360 Mah batteries weighed 21.8 grams before lightening.

After lightening weighed:          Batt. #1      18.6 grams

                                                   Batt. #2      18.4 grams

                                                   Batt. #3      18.3 grams

                                                   Batt. #4      18.5 grams.

                                        Average weight – 18.45 grams

Battery weighs after lightening:_

          Keith's 360 Mah 20C Rhino --------- 18.45

          Keith's 460 Mah 20C Rhino --------- 25.7 grams

          Dan’s 370 Mah 25C  ----------------- 21.15 grams

One interesting side note:  The Turnigy 370 Mah 25C batteries said 360 Mah 25C on the bare cells after I took the outside wrapping off.

I have seen similar things on batteries from 3 other companies but it was always mislabeled clams of a higher C rating between the wrapper claims and the writing stamped on the cells.

I have noticed that some of the battery companies have stopped stamping the Mah and C rating on the bare cells, so you no longer know what they give you.
